LAURA McDONOUGH

Laura is the daughter of Mary Anne and the late John McDonough of Holyoke. A graduate of Holyoke High School, she was a four-year member of both Track and Crew Teams and Captain of Crew her senior year. She received the Holy Cross Book Award. She is a senior at Bryant University in Rhode Island, where she has been on the Dean’s List the past seven semesters. Her major is Finance and minor, Communications. She was a substitute teacher in the Holyoke Public Schools May to July 2008, teaching students whose first language is Spanish, focusing on teaching English as a second language to Grade 8 students.. At Bryant, she belongs to the Finance Association and participated in Colleges Against Cancer, Relay For Life, Hands Helping Paws, and volunteered at the Smithfield Animal Shelter in RI. She enjoys skiing, working at Bryant University Gym, reading and spending time with family and friends. During school breaks she works as a waitress at Delaney House. After receiving her degree in Business Administration, she plans to pursue a career in finance at the corporate level.
 
BRIGHID CALLAHAN

Brighid is the daughter of Maureen and Stewart Callahan of Holyoke and has one brother Brian and two sisters Bevin and Bronwyn. A graduate of Holyoke High School, she was Vice President of the National Honor Society, member of Varsity Soccer and Tennis teams, and volunteered at Tennis Camp, Special Olympics. She was a member of the Yearbook staff and Holyoke Youth Leadership Team. She is currently a junior at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where her major is Psychology and minor is Education. She participated in the New England and Springfield Diocesan Youth Councils, volunteered for Special Olympics, and UMASS Developmental and Human Services Program. She is a teaching Assistant for Psychology 240--Statistics for Psychology, grading homework, quizzes and exams, and assisting students in the class  who require help. She enjoys Tennis, time with family, and working with children. After receiving her B.A., she plans to attend an Intensive Master’s in Education program at UMASS, and become an elementary school or special needs teacher in the Holyoke Public School system.
 
KATE CALIGARIS

Kate is the daughter of Gail and John Caligaris of Holyoke, and she has one brother, Matt. She is a graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School where she was voted Most Outgoing by the Senior Class. She was Most Valuable Player for the Varsity Girls Basketball Team and received recognition from the Springfield Union and Hampshire Gazette for Outstanding Achievement in Basketball. She received the Greater Holyoke YMCA Distinguished Service Award for seven years of volunteer work. She was a volunteer teacher's assistant at Blessed Sacrament School and was appointed Student Representative for Girl's State. Kate is currently a freshman at Bryant University where she plans to major in Business and minor in Communications. She would like to study abroad in either England or Ireland. She enjoys basketball, and singing at school, church, and community events. She plans to graduate with a Business Degree, a Communications minor, and pursue a career in the financial services industry.
 
HEATHER DUQUETTE O'CONNOR

The daughter of Kathleen O'Connor and Denis Duquette of South. Hadley, Heather has brothers, Kevin and Robert, stepbrother Matt, and stepsister, Anne. A graduate of Central High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, a Mathlete, Gold Key member, Class President, acting-member of the Drama Club, Shakespeare and Co. theater group in Lenox, El Teatro Theater Co, Madrid, Spain, and Center Stage Theater Co. She was a Varsity Cheerleader, member of Varsity Field Hockey and Tennis Teams, Collegiate Figure Skater competing since age 13, and currently, Figure Skating Instructor, and Zamboni driver at Mullins Center. A Spanish and International Communications senior at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, with minors in Modern European and Latin American Studies, Heather was a team Captain for UNICEF Trick or Treat, a language tutor, and an  AIDS Shelter volunteer. Heather traveled to Spain where she was certified as an Eucharistic Minister and altar server, and volunteered in an Aids shelter there. She enjoys modeling, baking, reading, National Competitive Figure Skating, the Red Sox and Step Dancing. She plans. to pursue a career in International Advertising for Health Communications.
